Issue # 1
This issue brings information on the loop of love - my 30-day cycling series, a note on Alley cat races, updates on translations in Hindi, and some cycling inspirations on web.
Cycling is quite similar to our life, and it changes one's outlook. It has changed my perspective of looking at life's problems.
Problems in life are like the climbs one has to navigate with adequate exercise and perseverance. Overall wellness starts with taking control of your physical and mental health.
To reach readers in India, I translated one more post that presents the details of my weight loss within the first month of cycling in Hindi. Translations are going slow, and I could use some help. I wish to bring my blog stories in French too.
Cycling is an incredible sport, and this is the best endurance training that one can do to remain fit and delay aging. Losing weight is easier when working with a sensible plan, constant motivation, and achievable goals.
A powerful routine can work wonders for anyone. I am at the start of my 30-day cycling routine. Since last October, following my cycling routine has helped in reaching my ideal weight. I am writing daily posts on my blog with more details of the rides.
I have started a twitter thread too.
I explored Alley cat races. These are the unsanctioned races that are organized by bicycle messengers - People who work for courier companies. The first alley cat race was organized in Toronto in the late eighties and continued for around five years.
These races are organized around public holidays. These races are informal and emphasize taking part rather than competing with fellow cyclists. People have fun in such races, and there is a prize even for the cyclist that finishes up last.
There are no set rules but usually include checkpoints, task checkpoints, checkpoints upfront, and point collection. Sometimes, the next checkpoint is revealed to the racer only after reaching the first checkpoint.
In some races, an exciting task is given to the racer on the checkpoints, and some checkpoints are purely for point collection in scavenger hunt style. There is one such race I found on YouTube.
I am sure such races are fun if racers take care of the safety of the fellow commuters on the road and do not break any traffic rules, relying on their best knowledge of the streets and the fastest routes to the planned checkpoints in a city.
Inspirations
I found awesome inspirations on the web. Hummel bike organizes campaigns and actions to protect the weakest road users with cycling training. Cycling has long established itself as the safest and most comfortable mode of urban transport. Tweets with thoughtful cycling art always catch my attention.
Images shared by Pam Zirkel invoke positive emotions and bring motivation to explore the unknown on my bicycle every day.
